Chapter 21 Dad makes a breakthrough

During the night, Rex and his father both snuck out of camp. They knew no beasts would even try to enter the camp. Taking a few steps out of camp.

"Dad, I can reach the village fairly fast myself. I will not be able to protect you if something happens. Get on my back and I'll carry us to a point where you can cultivate and make a breakthrough." Rex whispered.

Rex's father did not seem to like what his son was saying. He would not mind if he was injured or trying to help out in another way. A father being carried by his own son's back.

Rex's father did not want the shame being on his shoulders. He would never forgive himself for doing something like this. He also knew his son would not lie to him about this.

"We will do it later." Rex's father whispered back.

The two silently walked away.

Margaret and Amber both wanted to see how Rex and his parents were doing. Judging how quiet it was, they knew something was up. Amber went and checked on Rex's parents and Margaret went to check on Rex.

Amber saw Rex's mother sleeping soundly but his father was nowhere to be found. Amber had a feeling that Rex's father wanted to make a breakthrough and that Rex helped him go get it down. Even though it was upsetting, Amber felt it best for the two men to do it.

Margaret went and saw Rex was gone. Seeing that he was, Margaret figured that Rex either went out on his own or one of his parents wanted a breakthrough. She was not one to argue about making breakthroughs but she wanted Rex to at least leave a note.

Margaret and Amber both made it back in their tent and whispered to each other. Knowing it was the two men, they decided it would be best to let everyone know in the morning. The probability of Rex's father wanting a breakthrough was extremely high.

The next morning came and Margaret and Amber both explained what happened during the night. Liz and Iris both wanted to explode. First, Rex wanted to leave and try stuff on his own. Second, Rex left during the night with his father to make a breakthrough. Never! They went to do a Quest.

Liz and Iris both explained what they were feeling. Margaret and Amber both felt stupid for not thinking about that. Violet did not care either way. Rex's mother was upset that her husband would do something stupid like this. She was also happy that he wanted to be the first to explain the breakthrough to her.

Finally, after running all night. Rex and his father reached the mountain range. Rex had put all of his weapons into Inventory and had just enough jerky to last until in the morning for the two of them.

Setting his father down, Rex did not even feel tired running all night. Rex knew at that moment. His body cultivator Qi had truly transferred over from his first time.

'Well, I have to fight this group.' Rex knew what was going to happen.

Finding the good spot to cultivate, Rex told his dad to cultivate. Rex's father sat down and began to cultivate. Rex went up the mountain.

Looking across the mountain, there were three different camps set out. Each one was mostly Low Qi Gathering Core cultivators. There were guards that were Mid Qi Gathering Core cultivators. Each one had two High Qi Gathering Core cultivators.

Looking over the three Rex knew he had to use his Axe Qi to deal with the majority of them. He could sneak up and use Sword Qi to take care of a few of them.

Looking at his system he saw that he had 5 days left to complete the second main quest. Feeling better about his chances. He knew that his dad cultivating would cause suspicions about who was over here. Rex planned to use that to his advantage.

Running back down, Rex checked on his dad. Seeing that he was slowly getting closer to breaking through. Rex knew he had to help him break through.

Rex sat down behind him. Using his Qi he helped his dad to make the breakthrough. It took nearly the rest of the day.

"Son did I just?" Rex's father had a hint of excitement and fear.

Rex opened his eyes and felt that he too had something weird happen to him.

Opening his system he saw.

"Congratulations for helping a family member breakthrough to the Qi Gathering Core Cultivation Realm"

"Rewards to the one that had a breakthrough:

Increase in strength

The ability to use Sword Qi

Heightened Senses"

"Would he be able to use Sword Qi if I do not choose it?"

"It could perhaps become another reward quest. He would not normally be able to use it."

Reading the explanation, Rex felt conflicted. He wanted his father to be able to use Sword Qi but choosing it now would not be the right choice.

He decided to fully trust his father in this decision.

"Father, since I helped you make your breakthrough. You have three choices to choose from. First increase strength, I personally believe this one is the best choice for the current situation. Second Sword Qi, not even I who can use it will be using it during this battle. Lastly, Heightened Senses I do not know what will be strengthened. The choice is yours."

Rex's father just blankly stared at his son. Even though Rex has given him the choices and what he thought. Rex's father did not know which one to use. Opening up his system he brought a wooden sword.

"I could not even get a decent sword but maybe." Rex's father said.

Seeing the wooden sword Rex froze. The wood that the sword was made out of was from the Ninth Realm. There was only one tree that the sword was made from. That was the tree that the yellow striped wooded female spiders usually stay at. It was a World Oak Tree.

It was said to be the first tree that blessed beasts around it and no fighting would be done around it. If Qi was sent through it, that Qi would get multiplied by twice the Realm the cultivator was in.

"Dad, with that sword. You will get Sword Qi. I did not know you had such a blessing with your cultivation start." Rex hugged his father.

At the top of the mountain, the black cloaked people thought that a young couple had just made a breakthrough and did not know what was going on. So they decided to let them leave by fear.

"Fear is amazing isn't it?"

A mid Qi Gathering Core cultivator told his subordinates.

Shivers went down each of the subordinates backs. Knowing that if they failed this, they would get killed. They had to come up with a small plan to scare the couple away. They were hoping that the woman who had just advanced would get happy and leave.

Knowing that they were being watched, Rex smiled and wanted nothing more than to start the battle.
